About this blog

This blog is not intended as a definitive work on the entire history of dragon kind from the creation. Such works have been written many times by many historians and dragonologists, as well as, unfortunately, peddlers of fiction. The short fall of such histories and writings is they all end with the disappearance or extinction of dragon kind or relegate the entire species to mere myth and legend, declaring that they are more metaphorical creations of the the collective subconscious of mankind or some collective hallucination of our ancient ancestors than flesh and blood creatures. This blog is unlike such works in that it focuses on the untold history of dragon kind’s survival to the present age and indeed their continued co-existence with modern mankind. Found here in is a collection of modern encounters with dragon kind and insights into their behavior and interactions with the modern world.

Dragons are indeed real. I think the quicker you come to terms with that fact the more you will enjoy this blog.
I have spent the better part of a decade compiling evidence to convince and educate you dear reader of this very fact. Dragons exist pretty much everywhere you’re not looking. They have survived to our present age precisely because they are really good at that, and the fact that no one nowadays is really looking for them, except me.

If it’s your desire to learn more about dragon kind and their behavior then this
is the blog for you.

  1. I love your drawings and the mischievous sense of humour that goes with it. My daughter who co-worked with you, I think, on Zambezia and Kumba gave me your link.
You guys certainly have loads of talent!

    1. Thank you Shawn, I’m glad you like my drawings and that you took the time to tell me . It’s always encouraging. I didn’t work on those two projects unfortunately, but I am at Triggerfish now so perhaps we work together now ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m very blessed to work with the talented folk there and to contribute my talent. I think all creative’s are painfully aware of their own struggles and shortfalls so… (Signed: A fellow “wannabe” artist)

  2. My daughter had to leave Triggerfish, when after those two movies were made, they then ran out of work! She came back to Durban some years back and is now working in the PC gaming industry here. Seems happy but really does miss the Animation work of the movies. Thanks for reply.
BTW I purchased your one print. (Storytelling Dragon in Tree – Couldn’t resist!:),

  3. I love your artwork! They have been a HUGE inspiration for my fantasy writing at school.
I’m terrible at drawing, but a natural when it comes to computers and websites.
I love how some are cute and funny, and others are viscous and cheeky.
    Your really talented!

    1. Thanks so much Tigger ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s so cool that you like writing stories. I loved reading fantasy stories in school and they are one of the main reasons I started drawing. Who knows may be your writing will inspire others to draw ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hmmm, that’s a tough one. Dragon spotting makes me think of you writing your stories. Sitting and watching, bringing to life a world that only you can see. May be that one ? Choose the one that makes you happy when you look at it ๐Ÿ™‚ And thank you!

  4. Hey-hey! That’s me, a girl who is sculpting dragons from Instagram (RedPersik) ๐Ÿ™‚
Just checked your web-site and god damn, that is so awesome! Have you painted it yourself?
Your story a little bit similliar to mine, ha-ha. I loved dinsaurs so much at childhood and started to sculpt them with plasticine. But then I’ve learned abut dragons and started to scupt these majestic creatures! ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Hey there! Thanks for stopping by my site, I’m glad you like it. Yes I painted all the pictures ๐Ÿ™‚ Your Sculptures are really great! I also sculpt sometimes but mainly as lighting reference for paintings and nothing as advanced as your amazing sculpts :). Thanks for taking the time to write me. Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff on instagram.

  5. Hello good sir! I’ve been wondering about something and i feel like the smartest thing might be just to ask it.

I’m running an online gaming community, and i’d love to use some of your dragon art for some antagonists. Of course i don’t want to simply take them and copy them somewhere, goodness no. I was wondering if they are sold as a digital copy as well since i didn’t see that option in the Print Shop.

    1. Hi Miridan, Thanks for asking. Unfortunately the dragons I have painted are already being used by existing properties and are not available for licensing to other properties. If you would like information about commissioning dragon art specifically for your online gaming community please email me at themoderndragon@gmail.com.

  6. Hello fellow Safa! I am teaching and LOVE your dragons! I would love to use them to inspire the children for writing a news article about sightings of dragons. May I please have your permission for doing so? Thanks!

    1. Hi there, Thanks for writing me, and a fellow Safa at that:) How do you mean by use them? If your just showing them images then by all means do ๐Ÿ™‚ As long as you don not print and distribute or sell them outside of a classroom setup then it should be fine. If you are using them for class material that can travel beyond your classroom then we will need to draw up some sort of agreement. Let me know and thanks for asking. Best regards, Lynton.

      1. Hi Lynton, It’s only for the use of showing them. We are not printing and distributing at all. Children draw their own. Many thanks!

  7. I commissioned you late last year and I still think that was the best money I have spent. The art you did for me always makes me smile. You are a very talented person. I love your art and I am forever a fan. Will probably commission you again some time!

    1. Hey there! It was a pleasure to do your commission. I’m glad that the art I did for you makes you happy ๐Ÿ™‚ I will look forward to possible future commissions. I appreciate the forever fandom too! Hope you have an awesome year.

  8. This is such a wonderful blog! I was doing an image search for “dragons” to make a drawing for a friend. One of your pictures caught my eye so I came here. Such marvelous, witty artwork!
